As I'm writing, oftentimes I picture myself as the reader to gain further insight into what I've written and how readers will react to the plot of the story. I ask questions and make comments as if I were reading my work for the first time. I did this several times as I wrote and edited The Elf Girl.

Some of the feedback I've received from readers (especially mothers with children) concerned Ramsey's willingness to leave her human family behind on a whim to follow Stellan and Addison into the Elf Realm in search of her true heritage. I must admit, when I sat down to write the first draft of The Elf Girl, the issue of Ramsey's human family and their feelings was at the bottom of my to-do list. Because my signing at the Art Crawl has been cancelled, I've decided to do a few blogs (mostly to cheer up myself ).
